Volunteer Coordinator Timeline

Communication board created to allow for a good, continuous flow of communication between child life staff, volunteers and students.
2021
I initially took over the volunteer coordinator position in 2021 as a response to staff turnover in the child life department. I was tasked with managing our current volunteers as we had temporarily stopped onboarding new volunteers during the transition. As time went on, I took over the program and developed big dreams for what direction to take the volunteer program.
Interim Volunteer Coordinator
2021
Once into the role officially, we continuously worked through the PDSA cycle (picture: 1) to provide best practices and reduce waste. This allowed for identification of areas for improvement and to implement changes that positively support the Child Life Department. As a result, we were able to streamline processes and increase efficiency, ultimately leading to greater success with onboarding, orienting and developing the skillset and independence needed for our volunteers to thrive in the Child Life Department.
